How to make Besan Cheela ?

Ingredients

  • 1cup besan (gram flour).
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions.
  • 2 green chillies.
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder.
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
  • Some fresh coriander leaves.
  • Salt as per taste.
  • Water as needed.

Method

How to make?

  • In a bowl add besan,onion,green chillies,red chilli powder, turmeric powder,salt and fresh coriander.
  • Now, add some water Mix gently and make a batter of thick but pouring consistency.
  • Add more water if needed.
  • I used little less than 1 cup.
  • If the batter is too thick then the chilla will not cook properly and may cause stomach issues.
  • Heat the tawa, grease it well with few drops of oil.
  • When it is hot enough, pour one ladle-full of batter in the center.
  • Spread it as thin as possible.
  • Now, cover with lid and cook it for 4-5 min.
  • Flip it and cook from other side .
  • When you see brown spots on the cheela, you can remove it to a plate.
  • Serve hot besan chilla with tomato ketchup.
