Christmas Cake Recipe

You asked for a No Maida, No Eggs, No Liquor cake. Here’s my version of Christmas Cake. You can bake in oven and on Gas as well.

How to make Christmas Cake / Plum Cake?


My Secrets

  • 1 cup orange juice.
  • 2 tbs dry cranberries.
  • 1 tbs green raisins.
  • 1 tbs black raisins. 
  • 1 tbs chopped dried apricots.
  • 2 tbs chopped seedless dates.
  • Fistful of dry fruits (chopped cashews, walnuts and sliced almonds).
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar.
  • 2 spoon water.
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder.
  • A pinch of nutmeg (jaiphal) powder.
  • 1 nos cardamom (elaichi) powder.
  • 1/4th cup oil (any odourless).
  • 1/2 tbs cocoa powder.
  • 1/4 cup oats powder (instant oats).
  • 3/4 cup wheat flour.
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder.
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda.


How to make?

  • Take a mixing bowl, add 1 cup orange juice (grape juice/ wine/ rum is optional).
  • Add 2 tbs dry cranberries.
  • Add 1 tbs green raisins.
  • Add 1 tbs black raisins. 
  • Add 1 tbs chopped dried apricots.
  • Add 2 tbs chopped seedless dates.
  • Add fistful of chopped cashews, walnuts and sliced almonds, mix it and leave for 3-4 hours to absorb well.
  • Further heat up the pan, add 3/4 cup brown sugar.
  • Cook until it starts melting.
  • Add 2 spoon water, keep stirring to get thin/ pouring consistency and turn off the stove.
  • Take a mixing bowl, pour sugar syrup in it.
  • Add dry fruits and berries (soaked in orange juice).
  • Add 1/2 tsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg (jaiphal) powder.
  • Add 1 nos cardamom (elaichi) powder and mix it.
  • Add 1/4th cup oil (any odourless) / virgin coconut oil. 
  • Add 1/2 tbs cocoa powder.
  • Add 1/4 cup oats powder (instant oats).
  • Add 3/4 cup wheat flour (You can add 1 cup wheat flour if oats flour is not available). 
  • Add 1/2 tsp baking powder.
  • Add 1/4 tsp baking soda, mix all ingredients well and make thick batter.
  • Add 2 tbs leftover orange juice and mix it.
  • Further to bake cake, take a baking mould greased with oil and place a parchment paper in it.
  • Pour batter and add some chopped dry fruits on top.
  • Keep the cake mould in preheated oven at 180⁰. 
  • Bake for 50-55 mins at 180⁰ (after 50 mins check once if it’s baked by inserting a toothpick in it).
