Dal Khichdi Recipe

How to Make Moong Dal Khichdi ?

Ingredients

  • 1 tbs Oil.
  • 1.5 tbs Ghee (clarified butter).
  • 1 tsp Jeera (Cumin Seeds).
  • 3 cloves Garlic.
  • 1 small chopped onion.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder (Haldi).
  • 2 dry Red whole chillies .
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder.
  • 1/2 Tomato chopped.
  • 1 cup mix vegetables (Cauli flower, Green Peas & French beans).
  • Any Daal – Soaked in water for couple of hours – Take 1 cup.
  • Rice – Soaked in water for couple of hours – Take 1/2 cup.
  • 3 cup water.
  • 1/2 tsp Asafoetida (Hing powder).
  • Coriander leave

Methods

  • Take a pressure Cooker, heat it up.
  • Pour Oil & Ghee.
  • Add Cumin seeds.
  • While Cumin seeds are cooking, finely chop garlic.
  • Add garlic into the pressure cooker.
  • Add onion.
  • Mix it well.
  • Add salt, Turmeric powder & Red chillies.
  • Add chilli powder.
  • Mix it well.
  • Add Tomato.
  • Add mix vegetables – Cauli flower, French Beans & Green Peas.
  • Mix it well.
  • Add soaked rice & soaked daal. 
  • Daal should be more in proportion to Rice.
  • Mix it well.
  • Add 3 cup water.
  • Again mix it well.
  • Add Asafoetida (Hing Powder) on top of water so that it mixes well.
  • Close the Cooker & let it cook till you get 1 whistle sound.
  • Finely chop coriander leaves.
  • After you hear 1 whistle, open the cooker.
  • And sprinkle the chopped Coriander leaves on top.
  • Daal Khichdi is ready to serve.
