How to make Falafel Flat Bread?

Falafel Flat Bread – No Oven and Oven both recipes shown. Something you may not ever have tried but a must try.

Ingredients

To Make Falafel Bread :

  • 1 cup chickpeas
    (chole – soak overnight).
  • 1 chopped onion
    (medium size).
  • 2 chopped garlic cloves.
  • Some finely chopped fresh green chillies.
  • Salt as per taste
  • Crushed black pepper.
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin seeds (jeera) powder.
  • Some coriander powder.
  • 1/2 cup gram flour (besan).
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbs oil (any cooking oil).
  • 2 tbs water

To Make Hummus

  • 1 cup boiled chickpeas with some ginger
  • 1.5 tbs Tahini paste
    (recipe of Tahini paste is in description)
  • 1 finely chopped green chilli
  • 2 chopped garlic cloves
  • White sesame seeds  (for Tahini paste).
  • 3 tbs curd (2 tbs for Tahini paste).
  • Some chilli flakes
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 4 tbs water used for boiling chickpeas
  • 1 tbs olive oil (or 1/2 tsp sesame oil).
  • Salt.

For Toppings :

  • Hummus.
  • Chopped cherry tomatoes.
  • Chopped black olives.
  • Some fresh coriander/ mint leaves.
  • Cream cheese.
  • Chopped boiled beetroot.
  • Chopped colourful bell peppers
  • Some sesame seeds (til).
  • Some chilli flakes
  • Some roasted cumin seeds (jeera) powder.
  • Salt (to sprinkle).

Methods

To Make Falafel Bread :

  • Take a chopper/ mixer jar, add 1 cup chickpeas(chole – soak overnight)
  • Add 1 chopped onion(medium size)
  • Add 2 chopped garlic cloves
  • Add some finely chopped fresh green chillies.
  • Add salt as per taste.
  • Add some crushed black pepper
  • Add 1 tsp roasted cumin seeds(jeera) powder.
  • Add some coriander powder and grind the mixture coarsely.
  • Then add a small bowl of fresh coriander, again grind it to the rugged texture and transfer the mixture in a mixing bowl.
  • Further to make bread, add 1/2 cup gram flour (besan) in the bowl (can be replaced with maida).
  • Add 1/2 tsp baking soda.
  • Add 1 tbs oil(any cooking oil).
  • Add 2 tbs water, mix it well and rest the mixture for 10-15 mins.
  • Pre heat oven for 10 mins at 190⁰.
  • Further take a flat baking tray, and place a baking paper on it greased with oil.
  • Transfer the mixture in it and flatten it making a thick layer (thickness of the bread should be like a thick paratha).
  • Keep the tray in oven for 25 mins.
    To cook on stove, take a plate place baking paper on it and make a small thick layer of the mixture.
  • Heat up the pan and keep it on slow flame for 5 mins.
  • Brush a drop of oil on pan, and place the falafal base on it keeping the baking paper side up.
  • Remove the baking paper slowly, cover the lid and cook it on slow flame.
    If the water starts running on the lid the make sure you clean it to avoid making bread soggy.
  • Cook the bread for 7-10 mins until both the sides get golden-brown colour.
  • Turn of the stove and keep the bread on cooling rack for 5-10 mins.
  • Now take out the tray from oven, sides of the bread will get golden-brown colour.
  • Flip the bread on cooling rack and remove baking paper from it.
  • Take the bread on chopping board, and cut it into small pieces. (This bread can be stored in the refrigerator for 6-7 days and for 2 days in room temperature and also can warm in a toaster whenever you want).

To Make Hummus :

  • 1 cup boiled chickpeas with some ginger.
  • 1.5 tbs Tahini paste (Recipe – Dry roast white sesame seeds, add 2 tbs curd/ olive oil churn them in mixie and you will get a nice paste, it will be close to taste of Tahini paste).
  • add 1 finely chopped green chilli and 2 cloves garlic finely chopped.
  • Add 1 tbs curd.
  • Some chilli flakes.
  • 1/2 lemon juice.
  • 4 tbs water used for boiling chickpeas.
  • Add 1 tbs olive oil (or 1/2 tsp sesame oil).
  • Add salt
  • Churn it in mixie and Hummus is ready.

For Toppings :

  • Put some hummus on some bread slices.
  • Add some chopped cherry tomatoes, black olives, cucumber slices, some fresh coriander/ mint leaves on it.
  • Put some cream cheese on other bread slices.
  • Add some chopped boiled beetroot, colourful bell peppers.
  • Add some sesame seeds on all breads.
  • Add some chilli flakes on all breads
  • Add some roasted cumin seeds (jeera) powder on all breads. (You can add toppings as per your choice).
  • Sprinkle some salt on the top of all Falafel breads
  • So here’s your Nutritious, Super Healthy Falafel Flat Bread ready!!!
