Matar Cashew Pulao Recipe

How to make Matar Cashew Pulao ?

Ingredients

My secret

  • Oil.
  • 1 spoon ghee.
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeera).
  • 1/2 sliced onion (Optional if you are Jain, you may skip this).
  • Salt.
  • 1-2 finely chopped chillies.
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala.
  • some chopped  cashews.
  • 1/2 cup matar (green peas).
  • 1.5 cup water-soaked rice (soaked in water for
  • 30 minutes before you start cooking, should do).
  • 1.5 cup Water. 

Methods

Hwo to make?

  • Heat up the pressure cooker.
  • Take some oil and 1 spoon ghee (you may take butter if you like).
  • Once oil and ghee heats up, take 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera).
  • Let seeds crackle.
  • Then add sliced 1/2 onion (optional).
  • Add some salt so onions get cooked quickly.
  • Add finely chopped chillies.
  • Matar pulao requires very little of spices and is generally plain.
  • Add 1/2 tsp garam masala.
  • Add some cashews now – full, half, chopped.
  • mix well.
  • Now it’s time to add 1/2 cup green peas (mater).
  • Add 1.5 cup soaked basmati rice.
  • Add 1.5 cup water same quantity as rice.
  • Mix well.
  • Close the cooker lid and let it cook till you get 2 whistles.
  • Switch off the flame after 2 whistles and let cooker cool down a bit.
  • And then open the cooker.
  • Matar pulao is ready.
  • Garnish with cashews and serve it.
