Pav Bhaji Recipe

Pav Bhaji Recipe is the most popular street food in Mumbai. It mainly includes potato, mixed vegetables, and onion which are boiled and mashed together to make bhaji. It is highly flexible as you can choose any vegetables of your choice. Serve it hot with butter and dash of lemon for the perfect taste. This Mumbai pav bhaji recipe is ideal for lunch and dinner.

1 tbs Oil
2 finely chopped onions
1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1/4th chopped capsicum
A small piece of cauliflower finely chopped
1 green chilli
1/2 cup Green peas
3 Tomatoes shredded
2 boiled & mashed potatoes
2 tsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder
2 tsp Pav Bhaji Masala
2 tsp butter
Coriander leaves chopped

Pav / Bread 


We will make Pav Bhaji in 2 steps.

Step 1 :
Take Oil in a pan.
Take 2 finely chopped onions & add half of it now.
Leave the rest of the onion for 2nd step.
Saute onion.
Add some salt per taste
Let onions get a bit softer
Add 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
Let it cook for a while
Add 1/4th chopped Capsicum
Add some finely chopped Cauliflower
mix it well.
Add 1 green chilies chopped.
Keep mixing.
Add Green Peas 1/2 cup.
Take 3 Tomatoes. I have shredded them.
Add half of the shredded tomatoes now; keep reminding for step 2.
Add 2 boiled mashed potatoes
Mash everything nicely. in the pan itself.
Add 1 tsp Pav Bhaji Masala. Will need some more later.
Add some water & mix it well.
Keep mixing it and let it cook for 5-10 minutes.
We want masalas to be mixed into all the ingredients.
Now transfer the potato mix into a bowl.

Step 2
In the same pan, put medium flame.
Add 2 tsp butter.
Let butter melt.
Add finely chopped garlic 1 tsp
let it cook till it gets brown
Add 1 tsp Pav Bhaji Masala
Mix it well.
Ensure you have medium flame only.
Add remaining onions.
Mix it well.
Add remaining shredded tomatoes.
Add Kashmiri Chilli  Powder.
Add some coriander leave now. Leave some for later use.
Add a spoon of water & cover the pan with a lid.
Let it cook for 2-5 minutes.
Now add the potato mixture prepared in step 1.
If too thick, please add some water.
Mash the mixture nicely to ensure everything is nicely mixed
Cover the lid & let it cook for 5 minutes.
Take Bread Pav. Apply butter
and leave them on the pan for a while to get toasted.
Plate the Pav Bhaji with coriander leaves, a drop of butter & onion.
