South Indian Tomato Chutney Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 Chopped tomatoes.
  • 1 tbs chana daal.
  • 1/2 tbs urad daal.
  • Chopped onions.
  • 1-2 garlic cloves chopped.
  • Sabud Kashmiri red chillies.
  • Salt.
  • Fresh shredded Coconut.
  • Mustard seeds.
  • Oil.
  • Curry leaves .

Methods

  • Heat up a pan.
  • Add 1 spoon oil; let it get warmed up.
  • Add 1 tbs chana daal.
  • Add 1/2 tbs urad daal.
  • Let it cook till you see mild golden color; don’t overcook.
  • We just want to cook it a little.
  • Add onion.
  • Keep flame slow.
  • Add 1-2 garlic cloves.
  • Add 2 chopped tomatoes.
  • Add 1-2 Kashmiri.
  • Red chilies.
  • Salt per taste.
  • Mix well.
  • Cook till it becomes soft.
  • Switch off the flame .
  • Let it cool down.
  • Now pour the mix in the mixie.
  • Add some fresh shredded coconut (optional).
  • Now churn it in a mixie.
  • Taste it for salt.
  • Serve it in a bowl with a tadka on top.
  • To make tadka for chutney.
  • In a pan, add some oil, and mustard seeds.
  • Add a red sabud kashmiri chillie and curry leaves.
  • Tadka is ready pour on the chutney.
  • Enjoy this amazing red tomato chutney with dosa, uttapam, idly, medu vada, appam etc.
