Would you believe it that by the time rice gets boiled one side, at the same time you can make this tangy, spicy and mildly sweet Maharastrian Speciality Tomato Amti as well. Just takes 10 minutes. And all the ingredients you would be having at home. If you make it thicker then you can enjoy with Roti or Bhakri; and if you make it liquidy then it goes well with rice. It will leave taste in your mouth.

  1. Method

    • Take a mixer jar, add 4 medium sized chopped tomatoes
    • Add 1/4 cup daliya (roasted chane ki dal)
    • Grind to a smooth texture
    • Now heat up the pan
    • Pour 1 tbs oil
    • Add 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
    • Add 2 dry red chillies (sabut mirchi)
    • Add a pinch of asafoetida powder (hing)
    • Add 2 finely chopped garlic cloves
    • Add some curry leaves
    • Add 1 medium sized finely chopped onion
    • Add salt as per taste and mix it
    • Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
    • Add 1 tsp coriander seeds (dhaniya) powder
    • Add 1.5 tsp red chilli powder
    • Add 1 tsp dry onion-garlic masala (Kitchen King/garam masala is optional)
    • Now add churned mixture and mix it
    • Cover the lid and cook for 5 min on medium heat
    • Then add 4 cup water and again mix it
    • (add water as required or after checking the consistency)
    • Cover the lid and bring to a boil
    • Add 1 tsp sugar (to balance sourness) and mix it
    • Add finely chopped coriander & turn off the heat
    • Serve this Tangy Licious Tomato Aamti with Rice or Bhakri!
