Veg Muthiya Recipe

Monsoon starts and I just thought of crispy from top and soft from inside Muthiya and a cup of tea. And I have added lots of veggies inside; so steamed muthiya now get healthier too.

How to make Gujarati Veg Muthiya Recipe?

Ingredients

  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage.
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped carrot.
  • 3 finely chopped spring onion.
  • Some finely chopped ginger, garlic & green chillies.
  • Some finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
  • 1 tsp coriander powder.
  • Salt as per taste.
  • 1 lime juice.
  • 2 tsp sugar (optional).
  • 1/2 cup semolina (suji/ rava).
  • 1 cup wheat flour (gehu ka atta).
  • Water.
  • 1 tbs oil.
  • Some mustard seeds (rai).
  • Pinch of asafoetida powder (hing).
  • 1.5 tsp sesame seeds(til).
  • Some curry leaves.
  • Some Kashmiri red chilli powder.

Method

How to make ?

  • Take a mixing bowl.
  • Add 1 cup finely chopped cabbage.
  • Add 1/2 cup finely chopped carrot.
  • Add 3 finely chopped spring onion.
  • Add some finely chopped ginger, garlic & green chillies.
  • Add some finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
  • Add 1 tsp coriander powder (You can adjust vegetables & spices as per your choice).
  • Add salt as per taste.
  • Leave mixture for 10 min.
  • Then add 1 lime juice.
  • Add 2 tsp sugar (optional).
  • Add 1/2 cup semolina (suji/ rava).
  • Add 1 cup wheat flour (gehu ka atta).
  • Add water gradually, mix it and make thick batter.
  • Apply some oil on your palms, take some mixture and make cylindrical shape rolls.
  • Take a food strainer greased with oil and arrange the rolls on it.
  • Keep the strainer in 10 min preheated steamer.
  • Cover the steamer lid with cloth.
  • Cook it for 20 min on medium flame
    (Now put a knife inside to check if muthiya is cooked, if the knife comes out clean, it’s ready).
  • Turn off the flame.
  • Cut the rolls into pieces when it cools down.
  • Further for tempering heat up the pan.
  • Add 1 tbs oil.
  • Add some mustard seeds (rai).
  • Add a pinch of asafoetida powder (hing).
  • Add 1.5 tsp sesame seeds(til).
  • Add some curry leaves.
  • Add some Kashmiri red chilli powder.
  • Add cut muthia pieces.
  • Mix it and cook for 5 mins (to get crispy layer on it).
  • Garnish with some fresh coriander.
  • So here’s your Super Healthy & Scrumptious Vegetable Muthia ready!!!
